And the old gives way to the new….

From local newspaper:

“Preservationists lost their battle to retain one of London’s historic homes Monday night, and demolition of the Pennington house is slated for next week. The 120-year-old home on Broad Street will soon become another historic relic fallen to progress — another parking lot to add to London’s downtown development.” A parking lot for the tall building you can see in front of the home. Town Court House #2. Built on Main Street with a total of 12 parking lots. Nooo… lets not build it where there is space to build and nothing would have to be knocked down.

The house belonged to a local lawyer who used it as his office for 25 years before selling it. After only a few months time to try and raise money to move the house, or to buy the property- the court *cough bullshit cough* ruled that it is coming down, the parking lot is a go.

“That decision thus sealed the fate of the 120-year-old home that was once the home of Dr. Vincent Pennington, who laid way for Marymount Hospital.” If you remember the hospital I posted that is for sale- that is the clinic/ hospital he started back in 1920’s.

I have been calling the lawyer to see if I could stop by his office, take a few pictures. Never heard from him, but found him moving a few last items from the house as they stated tearing down the home. After asking both his and the crew leader of the construction company- I was able to get very few pictures as the floors was coming up and the main stairway being ripped out.

I was told they were saving most of the hardwood floor, 20 of the windows, some of the outside trim and a few of the 8 fireplace mantels. Also the stairway banisters that I remember as craved spokes where 85% saved. Of course when they say saved it means being sold.

Can see the many times the place had been remodeled.

Back stairway.

The house had 5 rooms on the main floor, 6 upstairs. Two bathrooms that had been redone many times over the years.

Reflection in the window glass tells it all…

Found the shed/ garage.

And this tombstone that was left behind. I asked the Lawyer about it and he said that Farris was the man who built the home, first owner. After he passed away his widow replaced this marker with the first bronze grave marker in our town. They (??) plan to take it to the grave and place it as his foot marker.

I took these photos Friday. I drove by the place today and it is just a pile of wood, gone.

That's just terrible. Just a wonderfully history old house and now its gone. Beautiful pictures but such a waste for the building.

Some make-up looks for the day. :)

Unedits first up-

Unedit one- shows the pink, purple and black shades. You can't see the pink on the edit one- problem with hooded eyelids. :(

Only one picture of this look- just unedit and edit of the same one. I started to sneeze and could not stop. As the lack of makeup on the end of my nose shows. Last look and I could not get my nose to stop running. lol

The look had three shades of brown, gold, orange and hint of yellow to it.

Really wish I could of spent more time getting pictures but I gave up when my eyes started to water up. Have to try this look again. Want to try it with a brown, tan, orange and reddish rust color.

Think the last one looks better unedit. And notice the fake lashes on the right eye inside is off- not meeting at the lash line.

In our town is a old coal company that sold years ago, turning into the location for collage. Left is the tall coal ?? silos that can be seen for miles away.

13- The old office building of the coal company that has now been sold to the state collage, adding buildings to the location, as well as the public library.

I go park around there sometimes and eat in the car when I need some down time and am hungry. I esp like watching the birds on the water.
